Hi everyone,

Sorry for the very late reply, thanks for welcoming me to the research network Neil! It’s been really great to hear about everyones different areas of interest.

I live close to Sydney, Australia, and work as a researcher at a couple of universities here looking at various aspects of housing and sustainability, with cohousing and other types of intentional communities being a big focus. My PhD looked at the role of intentional housing types in encouraging sustainable household practices, and now cohousing as an option for people as they age is gaining some attention in Australia.

I’m also on the national committee for Cohousing Australia, and we’re working to create more cohesive national network, including a research network of some kind, so it would be great to learn from your experience.

Kind regards,

Matt

Sorry for the late reply everyone! I'm an undergrad at Cal Poly Pomona majoring in Urban and Regional Planning I'm just finishing finals and maybe using cohousing as my premise for my senior project. I am also very interested in getting an internship with an organi zation that deals directly with cohousing. I think that with Minneapolis abolishing single family zoning many other states will follow their example which may influence an upsurge in cohousing being implemented as a solution to the housing crisis.

Cheers,

Hello everyone!

I am a PhD student from France, living in Sweden, and I'm currently working on a research project about space efficiency in buildings. More specifically, we're investigating how various organizations and people can share premises, what are the barriers and success factors for efficient space sharing, and various ways in which ICT can be used to facilitate the process.

All the best,

Thanks Neil! Glad to be joining this list.

I live in Chicago, and am creating a small ‘until

death do us part’ co-housing organization with friends. We intend to create a better aging and death experience together than we each would have had alone.

I am interested in learning what legal vehicles others have used in setting up small co-housing communities.

We need a vehicle that can own real estate while allowing us to directly enjoy and control it’s use. We need the named list of folks who contributed towards its purchase to have lifetime use of the building, while the vehicle also protects the building from any claims by creditors or heirs of the individuals on that list.
