Hello everyone My name is Maya Shafir and I am from Israel. 50 years ago we had many cooperatives, including housing cooperatives. Unfortunately they all fell apart and most people in Israel don't know the cooperative model at all. There is a huge Housing Crisis in Israel and I belong to a group of people who believe a Housing Cooperative sector can influence the housing market for the better. We are making efforts to treat the obstructions and help the groups of people who want to establish housing cooperatives - to succeed. We have many questions and I would love to get answers, links, files of hints where I could find material on: 1. Is there a research dealing with the influence of a housing cooperative on the neighborhood it is situated in? 2. Is there a research about the financing models for the establishment of different housing cooperatives? 3. Is there a research dealing with the social and economic sustainability of housing cooperatives? 4. Is there a research about the attitude of governments and city authorities in different places and how it affects the ability to establish new cooperatives? 5. Is there a research about the satisfaction of housing cooperative members? 6. Is there a research about Housing cooperatives as a solution for public housing and affordable housing? 7. Is there a research checking the secondary organizations of housing cooperatives and the role they take in the sustainability of the sector? As I wrote - direct answers, links, books, hints - will be all welcomed...
