Hi Everyone,

I am a member of Fair Oaks EcoHousing, which is under construction, expected to 
be completed by next Spring. I have been interested in cohousing since the 
1980s. My husband and I rented a house in a solar housing development in Davis 
called Village Homes, which had many elements in common with cohousing-no 
fences on the backyards so houses faced each other across pedestrian pathways; 
shared community gardens and orchards, little playgrounds at the end of every 
block, neighborhood potlucks, etc.-it was a truly idyllic place to raise our 
kids. Then Muir Commons was built just down the street from us. It was exciting 
to watch-we had friends who were involved but at the time, we weren't ready to 
buy.

Now our kids are grown and we are looking forward to finally starting our 
adventure with cohousing.
