Hi

My husband and I area couple of the oldest (age wise) members of Sonora Cohousing in tucson Arizona. We moved here about 5 years ago but were investors from the beginning of the community and helped with the design workshops. We rented out our unit while living in Bisbee, an old copper mining town of 5000 near the Mexican border. We are involved in many of the community teams - I am co-treasurer, on outreach, care, and cooks and my husband is on maintenance and does most of the small electrical work. We love having an inter-generational group of residents and when the toddlers come by it always brings a smile

We knew about the concept of cohousing for many years and were very happy that the idea had come to Arizona. Our project was an 'infill' so is near shopping and transportation but we have lush plantings that make our location into a little oasis in the desert. We are also near a bike/walking trail along a dry river bed. We spent many years in the boston area before moving west and visited some of the communities there and have also stopped at others when we travel.

Currently we have formed a team to look into possible internal loans and I sent a request to the list serve asking if any people have such a structure in their community. Would love to get more info if such a thing exists.

Susan
