Hi Angela, The one outside Atlanta with 61 units is, I believe, the largest in the US. I once talked to folks there who felt it was too big. Ecovillage in Ithaca, NY may have about 75 units, but I believe it is organized to be three separate cohousing communities, each with a separate name. I stayed at Monksogard, in Roskilde, Denmark, which has 100 units total. But it too is organized as five separate cohousing communities, each with its own structure and common house. I also stayed at Lang Eng in an outer suburb of Copenhagen. Lang Eng has 54 units and is one community, with a connected structure that is six-sided and built around a fully enclosed inner space with play areas, barbecue places, etc. and a very large common area with over 100 attending the six days a week common dinner. I once visited a large cohousing community in Australia (southern Queensland) that was built on a very large rural acreage of land such that most homes were not close to each other at all, like one per block. I don’t know the total number of units. Hope that is helpful.
