Hi all,

Thanks Neil for adding me to this group.  My profile info is below:

- Where you are geographically located?

- What brought you here and what your interests are?
- What are your professional and/or academic affiliations?
- If you are a resident of a cohousing or intentional community, which one do you call home?
[we like to know that as it might serve in the projects we are working on!]
- Anything else, you’d would like us and others here to know about you and your work.

I"m a founding member and 28-year resident of Pioneer Valley Cohousing in Amherst MA.  I currently split my time between Amherst and Belfast, Maine.  I'm also a board member of SAGE Senior Cohousing Advocates and in that role I'll be delivering two workshops on seniors in cohousing at the August CohoUS conference.  I recently retired from Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley MA where I was associate director of foundation relations.  I'm currently freelancing as a grant writer for a long-time college who has her own grants development business since I can't afford to live on our fixed income (!) alone.  My career has included work as an organizational development consultant, engagement manager to develop new audiences for a conservation organization, and executive director of a nonprofit.  I've done facilitation, group process,  marketing, policy development and sociocracy training with a handful of cohousing communities.  In my organizational development work, I taught workshops in program development and evaluation as well as research projects around OD best practices for small nonprofits.

I'm interested in research efforts that could help put the cohousing model in front of policy makers, municipal officials, and developers to try and expand the scope of this still not well-known housing model.  One idea I've had is to see if we could raise funds from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to do research on senior cohousing since they have elders as one of their priorities.  While this all sounds fine, as a senior with too much ambition and way too little energy, I warn myself and others that I can't deliver as much as I would like.

Oh, and did I mention that later this summer my husband and I will be traveling in our new (self-built) camper van - going across the country and hopefully visiting many cohousing communities.  Let me know if you have parking space for us to visit you this fall or next year!
Thanks,
Dyan (she/her)
