Hello everyone.

I hope this finds you well. In the wake of FIC’s Aging in Community course, requests for more content have come our way. Thank you! Here is one offering for you…

Tue Sep 27 :: Eastern: 2-3:30pm :: Aging in community: From isolation to belonging
$10, $20, $40 or a custom donation amount

About the event :: Discover factors that lead to isolation and learn strategies for belonging, as you age in community, in this webinar with Darla Fortune. Social isolation and loneliness are on the rise. This means more and more of us are missing a sense of connection and belonging, which is essential for our health and overall wellbeing.

As we age, our isolation may intensify and our needs to belong change. Community offers the ground for engaging in conversations about eldering, and changing individual and community needs for support.

In this webinar, you’ll learn about:
• factors that put us at risk of isolation
• the consequences and ill effects of social isolation and loneliness
• the positive implications and health benefits with experiencing a sense of belonging
• strategies that can help ensure we have continued opportunities to experience belonging throughout our lives
• the role that community leisure spaces play in supporting a sense of belonging

Who should attend?
You should attend if you’re:
• feeling lonely and longing for more belonging
• interested in the different stages of life: youth – adult – elder
• designing a senior community or cohousing project
• actively approaching elderhood
• looking for strategies to enhance your sense of belonging
