Carol,
CRN is about to launch a longitudinal survey (5 years) to track residents and communities over time on all kinds of factors. And as Angela and Chuck indicated, we have survey data on residents from 10 years ago that perhaps could be used, in conjunction with our current survey, to study longevity.

I doubt if cohousing has been around long enough with a large enough sample to do any research on this. But there are many studies of people living alone or with others or in some kind of community setting ? just not specifically cohousing.

Hi Angela, hard to have contact with you without going on about a certain
beautiful baby, but I will try. I have been thinking about an analysis we
could try that dovetails with the subject of this thread. In our community
and resident surveys( and perhaps the other surveys that we were involved
with) I have a memory that you kept a key that we could use to access the
identifiers in anonymized files. If we were able to connect with
respondents going back 5 or 10 years we could have a sample from which we
could do an estimate of longevity, Maybe. Is this feasible?
Congratulations, Chuck

How many individuals would be needed to show meaningful results?
A control group? You could probably use an accepted national standard.
