Angela..
Are you familiar with the website at www.cohousing.org? That should
answer many questions. Regarding availability & price of
cohousing the community would need to be contacted directly. You
will find the list of communities throughout the US on the website.
Hope this helps.

Hello CRN,
I am forwarding a message from Ilina, a journalist in
Russia interested in cohousing. She is looking for some quotes
about living in cohousing and a few accompanying photos for an
online magazine article. I'm hoping that some folks on this list
who live in cohousing will follow up with her individually to
help her get the word out about cohousing in Russia.
Happy holidays all!

Hi Ilena,
I don't live in cohousing, so I'm not
sure I'm the person you want to be quoting.
Perhaps you can reach out to one or two
cohousing communities to get a short interview.
Have you tried that? I am a researcher. I am on
the Coho US Board and I am the director of the
cohousing research network.
Very best,
Angela

Hello Angela,
it's great to hear from you! Thank you for
your answer. How can I introduce you to
readers? Are you also participant of US
Cohousing?
Maybe some words about how it is to be a
part of big family? What are the main
problems on the way of Cohousing? Do you
think the idea of Cohousing is actual now?
Or few advices for new members of
Cohousing? something like that.
And could you please send few photos of
your cohousing space and your photo?
Thank you very much.
It's very important everything you said.
All best

Hi
Elena,
Great
to hear that there is interest
in cohousing in Russia! For an
excellent background on
cohousing in the US, I
recommend browsing the cohousing.org
website. The idea came to the
US from Denmark. It was
brought over by husband and
wife architects Charles
Durrent and Katie McCamant.
They studied in Denmark and
brought the idea of cohousing
to the US in the 1980s (they
coined the term "cohousing"
also). They have several books
out that you might be
interested in. Let me know if
you need help finding them.
There are now about 150
cohousing communities in the
US. IC.org
is another great reference if
you are interested in finding
cohousing communities in
countries other than the
US--or other types of
intentional communities. I,
personally, do not know much
about Russia, so can't speak
to the viability of cohousing
in Russia. I can speak to the
type of people typically
attracted to cohousing in the
US. The following demographics
are strongly represented in
cohousing in the US:
middle-class/income, White,
highly educated, liberal,
greater proportion of 50 years
old and older compared to
general population and more
females than males. Please let
me know if you have any more
specific questions I can help
answer.
All
best!

There is one project in our

construction. Now we need
some comments for
representing it to readers
and sponsors. We don't have
any experience of
cohausing in Russia,
especially in the provinces.
Could you please to help us
with your comments? How did
the idea appear? How long
and how hard was it to
make a reality? What do you
think, is it possible to
realize it in Russia?
What is the type of people,
who aims at living in
community? Any advices and
specifications are
